As a part of field survey, the Department has gathered good number of sample zoological specimens.
A good number of ex-students from the Department are working in reputed institutions world-wide rendering services to the society. Some of them are placed in research laboratories and are also attached to noble teaching profession.
Enlisting the major birds of Uttar Dinapur District, West Bengal with an attempt to understand the important avian fauna is under progress.
The study of animal diversity as paramount importance, assessment of soil-biota primarily of different areas of the district of Uttar Dinapur is going on successfully.
Social awareness programmes like Malaria Day, World Environment Day, World Diabetics Day, World Aids Day are being observed by campaigning, street corner meeting, popular lectures and also by arranging seminars.
Periodic campaigns are arranged among farmers to reduce the application of insecticides in the agricultural fields aiming at sustainable agro-production.
Effective effort has been taken to update the knowledge level of fisherman and also to inform them about the newly introduced fishing gears in order to economize fish production.
The students have opportunity for recurrent interaction with the invited faculty members from both National and International levels, so that they can develop the talent to understand, preserve and to do research on the field of science with an interdisciplinary approach.
